The Details that Make the Difference

Understated elegance and unexpected detailing give this master suite its rich, tranquil ambiance. A heavy, natural-stained timber beam accentuates the vaulted ceiling’s slope drawing the eye upward and enhancing a sense of openness. The minimalist yet sensual lines of an Art Deco standing lamp create a pleasing, unanticipated bridge between the armoire’s inlaid doors and leather graining on an adjacent occasional chair.

The bedspread’s burgundy brocade makes an encore performance on pillowslips and valance where it’s trimmed with matching tassels. Draperies have a soft, metallic sheen that makes them appear to cascade out of the bronzed curtain rod they are suspended from – like water flowing from a spring.

A delicate floral motif that originates on the headboard is repeated in more abstract form on the wall above – its outline reflecting the curvaceous lines of the carved wood frame. Look up toward the peak of the vault, and you’ll see it again as well on the window ledge.

Color Trends in the Bedroom

Color trends in the bedroom are all about creating a personal space that expresses your innermost desires. For many of us, that means a retreat in which we can relax and rejuvenate.

"People want to simplify their lives, and we're seeing that trend reflected in color palettes for the bedroom and throughout the home," says Jack Bredenfoerder, president of the Color Marketing Group (CMG) (www.colormarketing.org), a not-for-profit international group of more than 1,100 designers who meet annually to forecast color trends in industries from fashion, to interior design, to automobiles. CMG predicts that the environment will also continue to play a big role in soothing shades for the bedroom that are borrowed from nature.

"These hues, especially shades of medium to dark browns, are perfect for the bedroom because they are nurturing and satisfying our souls," explains CMG's Bredenfoerder.

"Greens and browns are a classic combo that's very popular right now," says Seattle-based designer Nancy Satterberg. "It's a great combo for the bedroom because of the feeling of warmth. You want to feel cozy in your bedroom."

Satterberg warns you have to be careful to choose the right shades of green, because some shades aren't flattering to skin tone. "You want to choose something fresh and light, not too deep or saturated," the designer explains.

Gracious Elegance in the City

A soft, muted palette of ivories and grays give an elegant refinement to this welcoming condominium home. The living room centers around a floor-to-ceiling concrete fireplace in a combination matte and gloss finish. Above the mantle a textured circle floats inside a square relief that becomes a visual focal point. To one side, this unusual, eye-catching treatment is duplicated in miniature with framed squares of textured faux-concrete above a slim profile media center.

Creating the illusion of a separate den, a small table tucked up against the back of the sofa doubles as a non-intrusive room divider. Two chairs cozy up against a narrow liquor cabinet and round, glass-topped end table - perfect for relaxing with your significant other for a pre-dinner Martini or cocktails.

When friends drop by, you'll have no trouble with a sit down dinner for six. Comfy leather chairs echo the grays found in the fireplace and kitchen's granite counter. Just fill up a vase with crimson roses, light the cranberry candles, uncork the Burgundy, and you're ready with a dash of color and a gourmet outlook. Now, would someone pass the paté and brie please?

Bedroom Garden Fantasy

A breath of spring, a whisper of country gardens, and the airiness of a fluffy, white cloud. This bedroom is all about light and freshness. White on white with accents of green and the barest hints of pale blue with silver create a soothing, tranquil ambiance where cares of the day fade into merely a gentle memory.

Echoing the slender, tapered leaves of a potted palm, curtains and bedspread introduce an interwoven, semi-abstract pattern of leaves and flowers that adds visual texture as well as color.

The curtain rod's metallic finish proves a contemporary twist balanced by the more traditional raised motif found on the end caps. From below, the fabric's silver and blue flowers seem to be reaching up in an attempt to intertwine with the cool, smooth surface.

Sending an invitation to lay back and enjoy life, three differently colored cushions -- two plain, one floral, all generously oversized -- are untied with a common finishing detail. Precisely formed ruffles give a visual continuity with the headboard's crisp, almost angular edges.

A bathroom ventilation fan removes moist air from the room before it can condense and leave moisture on the walls and ceiling. It can also remove smells from the room. The CFM ratings are available from 50 to up to 10 CFM. Do you need an exhaust fan for bathroom? Generally speaking, in a bathroom or toilet only a fan is required, but in a utility room or kitchen, a fan is required. This is because fans are generally more powerful than fans, and kitchens and utility rooms require higher extraction rates that bathrooms or toilets. Bathrooms are divided into zones: Zone 0 is inside the bath or shower base, and no extractor fan can be installed there. Zone 2 extends 60cm around zone 1, and also around the sink; again low voltage fans must be installed in this zone. If installing a fan outside of zone 2, a mains voltage fan can be fitted.

Savor Life, Sleep Well

You'll likely be tempted to stay in bed longer than usual when you wake up in this sunny master bedroom. To your right, a large deck could be the perfect place to nibble croissants for breakfast - in half and hour or so.

Of course, you might choose to read the latest headlines in the comfort of your inside chaise lounge - just plump up the cushions and snuggle down with the soft blue, cashmere afghan across your lap. From here you can also ponder your latest artistic find - an oil painting depicting a sweeping skyline filled with clouds where you hope to discover dragons and mythical creatures at play.PO-06-01-1000-78_m

Still, you have to confess you're still enamored with the four-poster bed itself. Carved wood posts in a spiral twist and topped with metallic struts - a contemporary twist with a subtle echo of The Arabian Nights you find endlessly appealing.

When it's time to begin your day, you know everything is easy to find thanks to glass doors on your Queen's Closet - that and a whole lot of organizational help from your mother-in-law. You really do need to invite her over for dinner again soon.

Toddler Bedroom Ideas, Toddler Bedroom Furniture

If you think patterned wall paper in nursery rhymes designs will be a safer choice, you will be in for a greater shock because toddlers love to rip off wall papers or leave a stamp of their artistic efforts on that wall paper. Basically toddler bedroom decorating ideas will incorporate the paint, color, theme and decor of the bedroom.
There are endless themes for toddler bedroom decorating ideas such as Disney characters, Scooby Doo bedrooms, Tom and Jerry or Victorian toddler bedroom etc.

Decorating a bedroom for toddlers and small children is sometimes frustrating for many parents, but when done creatively it can actually be quite fun. Young children tend to be very creative individuals. The first thing you'll want to do when decorating your toddler's bedroom, is to use plenty of solid, bright, primary colors.

The next step is to plan how you'll decorate the walls. An excellent decorative technique for toddler's bedrooms for instance, is to apply whiteboard material along the bottom part of the wall. When using whiteboard for your child's creative activities, you simply buy a set of colorful whiteboard markers for them to create their artwork with instead of crayons.

Decorating a toddler's bedroom can be a challenge. Tips for decorating a toddler's bedroom:
Don't try to make a toddler's bedroom too fancy or decorative. Toddlers are very impressionable and can be scared easily. Choose happy themes and cartoon characters that make your child smile.
Don't overcrowd your toddler's bedroom with too much furniture. Toddlers enjoy exploring new things and they don't understand or remember many safety rules. You can accomplish this by using the tips listed above when decorating your toddler's bedroom.

Taking your child's crib out and converting the room to a toddler room can be very bittersweet for you and exciting for your toddler. Lighter colors, such as tans, blues, lavenders, etc., are said to help relax instead of stimulate. If you do not have a separate play room for the children, and the bedroom serves as both, you should incorporate some interactive toys in the room to keep your child entertained during the day. Train tables fit great in corners and little boys love these as well.
Designating specific areas in children's rooms for different activities help keep everything organized. Whether you do it by changing the wall color, adding area rugs to designate centers, or adding fun interactive toys for your growing little one, they are sure to love it! Design away!

Is your toddler's bedroom overrun with toys? Following are the top benefits of giving toddler's bedroom a makeover as a gift.
Focus your bedroom makeover project on his likes (favorite colors) and/or interests (great inspiration for a room theme). Making over a toddler bedroom is the ideal time to teach your child about putting toys away after playtime. Encourage cooperation with new storage containers. Look for plastic, lightweight storage bins and organizers that coordinate with your toddler's bedroom.

The door to future 'decor' gifts is wide open. Consider giving decorative photo frames, wall stickers, light switches or toddler throw pillows as future gifts.

The pillow covers, bed spreads and blankets should be chosen according to the color your toddler loves. The bed you buy should have bars around them in order to make sure that even if your child tries to crawl down the bed, they have support and they will not fall from the bed at night.
